A superb way to steal your money.

A superb way to steal your money.
A superb way to steal your money.
The European society of Cardiology calls for EU governments to overtax the products rich in sugar, saturated fat and salt.

They say, in an article published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, that binding measures (taxes, prohibitions, regulations, subsidies for agricultural products) would allow the authorities of " halving the number of deaths related to cardiovascular in Europe ". (1)

According to the newspaper Le Figaro, " the perspective advanced by scientists are tempting because cardiovascular disease are 4.3 million deaths in Europe and 147.000 in France each year. . »

Tempting? Yes, especially for politicians who need your money;

The real motivation behind these new taxes

"The art of taxation consists of plumer goose to get the most feathers with the least possible of calls", said Colbert, Finance Minister of Louis XIV.

Our rulers are past masters in the art of creating new taxes in us explaining that it is for our good.

What's more beneficial for you as you overtax on products rich in sugar, saturated fat, salt, that you buy at the supermarket?

Imagine the population of the European Union giving up the March, chips, hamburgers and Coca-Cola. Soup vegetables, steamed broccoli and shredded carrots sprayed a simple juice of lemon (salt-free and oil-free!) would replace the steak frites as national menu.

And everyone would be healthy and happy in the land of the Smurfs!

Open your eyes, gentlemen teachers

Or rather, use your neurons:

The result, obvious, of such a measure, will be to increase the prices of most consumer products: sugar (makes 100% sugar!), salt (to 100% of salt!), oils, (to 70% saturated fat, or more), honey (made 80% sugar!) and so many other basic food. Dried fruit (made in 80% of sugar) will have to be overtaxed.

And what about bread, potatoes, cereals all kinds, and the duck? All contain alarming carbohydrates and/or saturated fat levels.

Of course, it objected me that this are not commodities that are targeted, but the industrial food.

The problem remains exactly the same. When can a product be declared "industrial"? When it is cooked and mixed? This means that the Sauerkraut, the cassoulet, chocolate, will be affected.

But these products are not necessarily bad for health! It all depends on if you you to stuff watching TV, or if you eat a the return of a great walk in the countryside. Eat from time to time all of these products is very good for health, I would say even necessary, and there is no reason to financially punish consumers.

The only certain result of this measure, if it passed, would reduce the budget of the homes, and to place additional burdens on the community. Because it will have to create a new plant in gas tax to tax, control and punish offenders voluntary or involuntary. There is no doubt that this measure will worsen congestion in our courts, and there will be (legitimate) challenges that will have to be incurred.

Let us live - and let us what live!

Then to please, gentlemen the Messieurs les Professeurs Faculty of medicine, made your work.

The only way to sustainably improve the health, is to help people understand the needs of their body, and the importance of a good prevention.

This is not simple. It takes a lot of work, patience, pedagogy. It is never sufficient to punish the offenders, them with fines because they have not eaten.

On the contrary, it is essential to give, along with advice, means humanly accessible to follow, in the long term. We are not a herd of cattle, "experts" who decide to what we have the right to absorb (we saw that it gave, indeed, in the industry, with the mad cow).

But I have a proposal for you, professors of Medicine: today there are of excellent information letters electronic health and nutrition, on the Internet, that give lots of good ideas for living better and longer.

I know even one which is entirely free: why not you subscribe, and encourage your patients to do the same?

This will not cost a penny to anyone, it will not create a new tax. You help positively to improve the lives and health of thousands people, while saving billions of euros to the health system, in the years to come.

What you should be more?
