Homeopathy for cancer.

You did not hear talk in the newspapers but the fact is that in India, Homeopathy treats thousands of cancer cases.

And indeed, even if the mainstream media maintain a silence deafening on this subject, studies financed by the American Government show that homeopathy may be our best defence against cancer. Clinical trials, several homeopathic remedies are as effective as chemotherapy and thousands of cases of cancer are treated with the exclusive use of homeopathy. (see below)

The extraordinary success of homeopathic remedies (which are diluted hundreds of times) against the most formidable diseases, in particular, demonstrated every day in several homeopathic clinics in Calcutta in India.

In a report on the work of the Prasanta Banerji Homeopathic Research Foundation, 21 888 patients with tumour malignant have been treated only by homeopathy, without chemotherapy or radiotherapy, between 1990 and 2005.

According reports clinical, found a complete regression of the tumor in 19% of cases (4 158 patients) and a stabilization or improvement in 21% of the cases (4 596 patients). Those whose tumour was not followed for two to 10 years to monitor the improvement (1).

This tends to show that homeopathy is capable alone to heal or, at least, to stabilize 40% of all cancers, a success rate that equals the best results obtained with conventional treatments, and this without suffering the debilitating effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Results confirmed by independent laboratories

Independent laboratories have studied this Banerji Foundation, or Protocol Banerji homeopathic therapy. Two used remedies, Carcinosin (or Carcinosinum) and Phytolacca decandra, were also effective against cancer of the breast the Taxola prescribed chemotherapy. (2)

Surprisingly, all treatments employed by the Banerji Foundation are available in pharmacies and 6 Ruta (Ruta graveolens) is one of the few regularly prescribed remedies. (3)

For the development of this Protocol, the Banerji Foundation did not hesitate to use a combination of several homeopathic remedies and to rely on screening of high-tech equipment. These two practices are contrary to homeopathy, unicist, i.e. which search unique cure - and a combination of remedies - adapted to profile individual mind/body.

Another clinic in Kolkata, the Advanced Homeopathic Healthcare Centre, boasts a similar success rate of patients with cancer. Although well documented, their results have not been subject to the same degree of scientific validation that the Prasanta Banerji Foundation.

A beginning of recognition

Banerji Foundation work began to attract the attention of Westerners as early as 1995 when Dr. Prasanta Banerji and his son, Dr. Pratip Banerji, presented at the 5th International Conference of cancer research study of sixteen cases of tumour of the brain having declined by only using homeopathic treatments. At the time, they tested this type of cure on patients with cancer in their Foundation since 1992. They declared currently deal with an average of 120 patients per day.

Dr. Sen Pathak, Professor of cell biology and Genetics at the centre against cancer MD Anderson of the University of Texas (MDACC) in Houston, came into contact with the Banerji. Together, they have developed a test to test two homeopathic remedies, Ruta 6 and Calcarea Phosphorica 3 X 15 patients with a tumor in the brain. Six of them suffering from a glioma (a type of brain cancer) have seen their complete tumor regress. In a study in vitro parallel, scientists found that medicines induced cancer cell death signaling pathways. (4)

The results are staggering. It is considered that a glioma is incurable. About 10,000 people diagnosed each year of a malignant glioma nothing to United States, only half of them were still alive a year later and just 25% after two years. (5)

MDACC, scientists were so impressed by the results that they began offering homeopathic remedies for cancer.

In 1999, the AmericanNational against the Cancer Institute (NCI) evaluated the effects of the Banerji Protocol on 10 patients with different types of cancers. In four cases of lung and esophageal cancer, researchers from the NCI confirmed partial responses to homeopathic. None of the patients had received prior to conventional cancer treatment.

The NCI concluded that there was sufficient evidence of effectiveness for further research on this Protocol. This was a historic decision because it was the first time that in the United States was an official health agency working on alternative therapy to treat cancer. (6)

Results in the laboratory

To understand the mechanism of action of homeopathic treatments on cancer cells, eight scientists of the MDACC tested four remedies on two cell lines of the female breast cancer: Carcinosin 30 CH, Conium maculatum in 3 CH, Phytolacca decandra 200 ch and Thuja occidentalis 30 c.

About five hundred cells were exposed to these products as well as placebo (no solvent of the active principles of the remedies) for periods of one to four days. This experience was repeated three times.

With two fixes, Carcinosin and Phytolacca decandra, have been obtained up to 80% of response, evidence of apoptosis or cell death and only 30% solvent-placebo. The effect was almost three times higher.

In addition, the dilutions were strong, more the effect on the cells was important, which is consistent with the rules of homeopathy. Indeed, the remedies are paradoxically more active if the dilution is more important and longer periods of exposure.

The remedies have caused a "apoptotic cascade" that interfered with the normal growth cycle of cancer cells. Yet, the researchers found that the surrounding healthy cells were not affected. In other words, homeopathic remedies have had targeted that cancer cells while the drugs used in chemotherapy attack all cells that multiply. After them, the effects of Carcinosin and Phytolacca were as powerful as those of the Taxola, the most prescribed drug in chemotherapy in breast cancer. (7)

The success of Ruta at the terminal stage

Although Carcinosin and Phytolacca have been proven in the laboratory, number of patients of the Banerji Foundation take Ruta 6 which has had extraordinary success in a study involving 127 American patients with a tumor in the brain, half of them to stage IV, the final stage before death.

On MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the tumors had completely disappeared in 18 of 127 patients taking only Ruta, without complementary conventional treatment. In nine other patients, the tumor had declined significantly. These tumors were stable in about half of patients, but had increased volume in 27 patients. In conclusion, the action of Ruta was proved beneficial, to a greater or lesser extent, in about 79% of them.

In a previous study of the Banerji Foundation patients who are prescribed Ruta and a conventional for a brain tumor chemotherapy, 72% had benefited a more or less large this association, which, compared to the previous study, suggests that Ruta would be alone more effective (or certainly as effective) as a product of chemotherapy, and this without disabling side effects. In another study on cases of brain tumor (148 patients with malignant glioma and 144 a Meningioma) treated the Banerji Foundation between 1996 and 2001, 91 patients exclusively under Ruta and Calcarea Phosphorica had a survival time average of 92 months then eleven other patients treated conventionally and receiving of homeopathy in complement have survived that 20 months. In addition, 7% of patients only under homeopathy have experienced a total remission, 60% improved, 22% stabilization (the tumor is not playing in one direction or the other) and 11% worsening. (9)

A huge hope for other cases of cancer

The success of homeopathy to treat cancer give hope to all researchers whose spirit is a minimum open to alternative medicine.

The Banerji Foundation is not the only clinic which has adopted a modern approach to homeopathy, so-called "Advanced homeopathy". On the contrary, the exploits of the Banerji Foundation even rather given a large impetus for the creation of other foundations on homeopathy in India. Their results are very promising. In the meantime, force is that Western mentalities are struggling to evolve when it comes to give more credit to homeopathy and to test its potential to treat serious diseases like cancer.
